“Fido’s Heroic Act: Taking Four Bullets to Protect Owner from Armed Robbers”

He was hit with three bullets, yet he refused to let them approach his son.

Meet Rex, a furry hero who resides in Washington state alongside his loving family. Recently, this German Shepherd demonstrated his bravery by putting his own life in danger to protect his teenage brother, Javier. It’s no doubt that Rex has earned his title as a true hero.

Last Wednesday afternoon, there was an incident where two burglars broke into the house of Rex and Javier while they were at home. Javier, feeling scared, ran upstairs and hid in a closet while calling the police. On the other hand, Rex stood his ground and refused to back down. Reports state that the burglars attacked Rex when he approached them, but he still fought back before fleeing the scene. According to Javier’s aunt, the dog put up a good fight against the intruders.

Susy Cadena recounted how Rex rushed to the upper floor to ensure the safety of his master, who was hiding in the closet, even though he was injured and bleeding from the assault. The intruders caused havoc in all the bedrooms before heading towards the room where Susy’s nephew was hiding. Despite being weakened, Rex bravely attacked the burglars to protect Susy’s nephew.

Afterwards, the criminals took aim at Rex and shot him several times. The attackers swiftly fled the scene while Javier remained unharmed. Rex was thrust into a fresh struggle for survival.

When Rex was discovered and taken to BluePearl Veterinary Clinic in Renton, his condition was critical and he required surgery for his survival. However, his owners could not afford the expenses of the surgery on their own. On hearing about this, hundreds of kind-hearted strangers stepped forward to help.
Cadena initiated a fundraiser through GoFundMe with a goal of $10,000 to finance Rex’s medical bills. In just a few days, the campaign had raised over $60,000 in donations, surpassing the initial target by a significant margin.

On Friday, Rex underwent a life-saving surgery that he needed. Thankfully, the procedure was a success and on Sunday, he was given the green light to go home. Now, back in the comfort of his own house, Rex will have the loving support of his closest family and friends as he recovers.
