The CLB Inter Miami recently announced a special match called ‘Noche d’Or’, to celebrate Messi’s eighth Ballon d’Or and help the players prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The match in honor of Messi will take place at 8pm on November 11 (Vietnam time) between CLB Inter Miami and New York City FC at DRV PNK stadium. Neither team made it to the MLS Cup (USA) playoffs.
Earlier, Inter Miami FC announced the cancellation of their tour in China in early November due to “logistical and commercial issues”. At the same time Lionel Messi won his eighth Ballon d’Or, the president of Inter Miami FC, David Beckham, and co-owner Jorge Mas, planned to organize a friendly match in the United States to honor the Argentine legend. The game would also provide an opportunity for national team players to prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Messi is set to return to the Argentina team in mid-November for two matches against Uruguay on November 17 and Brazil on November 22 (Vietnam time). The Inter Miami FC media team has announced that the Messi tribute event will be grandiose, with the Argentine legend introducing his Ballon d’Or trophy to the fans before the team’s game against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup on July 21. Jorge Mas and MLS executive Don Garber will also deliver speeches honoring Messi. Inter Miami FC supporters will receive various benefits from the club as the 2023 season comes to a close.
After the match that honored Messi, Inter Miami Club will go on vacation, only calling up players who are selected to play in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers or international friendly matches. The team, led by former football legend David Beckham as chairman, will return to training and preparation for the new season starting from the beginning of 2024.
