Good Samaritan saves canine from perilous fate on highway bridge with power cable.

While on his way to work in Independence, Missouri, David Fredman spotted a dog that was caught in an electrical cord near the I-70 bridge. He noted that the poor animal was strangled by the cord and was barely able to touch the earth with its feet. The dog was swinging from the edge of an electrical box while attempting to shift its head left and right in an effort to free itself. Being at the right position at the right time, Fredman stepped up to rescue the dog in distress.

As soon as he saw the dog trapped, Fredman called 911 and grabbed a knife to help. Upon freeing the dog, he noticed it struggling to breathe. He comforted it and took it to KC Pet Project since it couldn’t walk. The lost dog was identified as Max through its microchip, and its owner, Dee Vaughn, had been searching for it. Vaughn was relieved to hear that Max had been found just two hours after reporting it missing, but was heartbroken when he found out what had happened to his beloved 16-year-old pet.

The circumstances that led to Max’s situation remain a mystery. One can only speculate whether it was an unfortunate accident or a deliberate act. Vaughn expressed his doubts about how his senior dog managed to wander so far from home. Nevertheless, he remains hopeful that surveillance footage will shed light on the matter. The presence of an electrical cord wound tightly around Max’s neck is highly suspicious. Vaughn reported the incident to the authorities and was advised to notify animal control, which he intends to do.

He expresses immense gratitude towards Fredman for ensuring the safety of his beloved dog, Max. Upon meeting Fredman in person, he took the opportunity to thank him and acknowledge his heroic act by saying, “David, thank you so much for risking your job and rescuing my dog.”
