When we find ourselves in need, it’s not uncommon for us to turn to police officers for assistance. But this particular incident was a little different. It wasn’t a human seeking help, but rather a lost and vulnerable puppy. This tiny pup had been wandering the streets of Los Angeles when he saw two officers patrolling the area. Instinctively, the pup knew he needed help and mustered up the courage to approach them on his four little legs.
When Officer Taverna and Policeman Mercado saw the puppy, they felt sorry for him. They realized that a young pup like him would not be able to survive on his own for long. So, they decided to take him back to the station. During the ride, the puppy started getting attached to Officer Mercado by snuggling into his legs, understanding that he was finally safe. This car ride set the course for the puppy’s little life.
While at the station, the adorable puppy that was rescued by police officers was given the name Hobart. This name was inspired by the street where they found him. In addition, they even gave him the title of honorary K-9. Hobart was greatly appreciated by all of the officers, however, it was Police Officer Mercado that seemed to catch his attention.
Officer Mercado fulfilled Hobart’s desire by adopting him and giving him a permanent home. The two are now delighted with each other’s company and their heartwarming tale, which was posted by the LAPD on Twitter, has garnered significant attention.
